Thank you for all the dedications that we received before, during and at the end of the ride.

Ride Diary blog entries as well. Just click on the comments link at the bottom of the entry and add your message in the box at the bottom of the pop up window.

You  took on a brilliant challenge,
everyone is so proud of you.
To support a worthy cause like this,
should gain you a knighthood or two.

We have been made welcome by Betty + Tony,
since we met on that Canarian Cruise.
Our friendship as grown immensely since then,
and it wasn't fuelled by the Booze.

To find out about Tony's illness,
it really made us so sad,
especially since we have grown closer,
and they became my Mam + Dad.

We visited them earlier this year,
and met most of  the family too.
How they bond together with love,
in everything they do.

So "Colyers" keep all your chins up,
us Northerners will also keep up the fight.
And with the help of these dedicated riders,
Will keep the future bright.

Well done guys……what next??
Over Andes by frog has been done already..so it'll have to be something else…
Congratulations all-round!

Bob Dench

Hi lads - we can see from the diary what a good reception you had in Monte Carlo.  Wish we could have been there to thank you in person.  We followed you on our map every day.  It has been a great week with all its ups and downs but glad to hear you all arrived safe and sound. You are an inspiration to everyone.

Tony wants to thank you from the bottom of his heart.  The money you have raised will help a lot of people to recover from this terrible disease. Enjoy your families now that you are home.  We are sure they are all very proud of you, as we are.

Amanda, Paul and boys, you are a very special part of our family.  Your support has been invaluable and we love you lots.
We hope we will get to meet you all again sometime.  Take care, whatever you are doing.
Lots of love
Tony & Betty xxxxxxx

Dear Paul
A million congratulations on completing your Monte Carlo or Bust challenge! I have been following your progress online - it was gripping reading!

Reading through the comments on your website and Just Giving page it it clear the team's motivation, determination and dedication has touched many people and I hope you're all very proud of yourselves for this fantastic accomplishment.

I do hope you all had a wonderful time in Monte Carlo and are having a well-earned rest now.

Best wishes,
Charlotte
Charlotte Pavry ( Cancer Research UK)

Wow - what a fantastic achievement.
You should all be so proud of yourselves - us supporters definitely are! You undertook a huge challenge and delivered it - peoples' lives will change as a result of you.

Congratulations to the whole team, and a special thanks to Moo & G for getting them thru' it - Love Mrs Muttley x

Dan & Heroes....

Can't put into words how amazing you have all done.
It's such a massive achievement, please be very proud of yourselves... Also wanted to say the "Ride Diary" was really, really well done. I can imagine it was the last thing you felt like doing after the horrendous days you went through but it made really good reading and I'm sure it helped you raise a few more quid.
See you soon
Michelle (Ginger Gooney !!)

WELL DONE LADS!! There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said, but I'll say it anyway! You are all fantastic and your achievement is even better than that!!

I only have a vague connection to any of you (muttley) and for months have known about each of the long training rides he was going out on in preparation for this mammoth ride. I admired his determination then, but now...well,what can I say. Fantastic, terrific, amazing. I can't think of words to describe what all of you have achieved.

I loved the ride diary. It made me realise what great team spirit you all must've had (and needed!).

I hope you raise shed loads of money...and I'm all for the 'naming and shaming' of the tight-wads who haven't coughed up yet!!
Well done once again lads. Hats off to you all.
Kim Daniels.

Very well done and congratulations to you all, what an achievement !!!!!
Loads of Love and admiration AliX

Morning Lads hope not to many hang overs I hope bit if you have they are justified. Well what can we say that every body has not said, but I say it any way. Well don every one you all have our utmost admiration, you all deserve a medal with what you have achieved, especially you Paul we are so very very proud of you for giving up smoking at new year and achieving this mammoth task.
Well done
See you soon son
Mum& Dadxxxxx

We have been tracking your progress all along, Congratulations to all of you for doing such a brilliant job, you arrived just in time to see the 'other' team get bombed out.
At least you all made it ALL the way .
Well done, will see you sometime soon Paul, Cheers
Graham & Sylvie

Well done guys (that's all the team of 7+2) We've read the daily reports and have been astounded by the amount of effort you have all put in to achieve your shared goal. The team work has been exemplary and we hope the experience will make life long bonds between you that will never break, or perhaps that's it "never again you bastards" or words to that effect. By the time you read this, your adventure will be over and you will be relaxing in Monte Carlo with God knows how many beers. It's difficult to imagine the relief you are all feeling as we've never undertaken such a task or anything remotely like it unless you consider my hitch hiking to Spain (1954) as being equally mad and dangerous. We are extremely proud of you all especially Mutley and we hope that we will one day soon, get to say hello and enjoy a celebratory drink with you all

Absolutely bloody(thoughtfully chosen adjective!) stupendous congratulations to you all.
Mutley's Ma & Pa

Sooooo glad people like you get on your bikes. A truly remarkable and mind blowing task you are about to achieve.  You are all fantastic for not stopping at the first incline. Thank you thank you thank you. x

Jane & Martin

Congratulations to all of you. You done a great job and raised a lot of money which will help so many people. John O'Groats to Lands End in 2004, London to Monte Carlo in 2006  so where will it be next chaps?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Selva

so doubt you know that the favourites (Argentina) are out of the Cup, and the bl00dy Italians walked over the Ukraineies (or is
that Ukrainians?) Am hoping that the events of the (not quite yet but soon to start) Tour de France aren't having a negative
impact on the event (who would've thought that Ulrich and Basso would've both been pulled up on "alleged" doping offences and
had to pull out of Le Tour) that you are doing and the pull up L'Aple D'Huez is all worth while. Am reliably informed that the view is
almost worth the 6 hour climb!

We're both very proud of your effort and looking forward to buying you all a few drinks and hearing all about it when you get back
to Blighty. Enjoy Monte Carlo, try and break the bank and if you run out of cash, then I can recommend a walk around the race
circuit and a quick dip in the swimming pool.

Laura and Jonathan        :-)

Hi Jimmy,
Just to let you know my grass is shorter than yours!!!!
Hurry back to the Shires young Frodo!
Best Wishes
Garry

It's not just Lorraine Kelly you've got to worry about..... There's a vicious rumour that Lea and her "oileys" are threatening to walk
out of the Big Brother house and play Spin the Bottle with any of you who don't finish!!!  That's quite some incentive to keep pedalling, eh?

I'm reminding everybody I speak to this week just how important it is they get on the website and get their credit cards out.  I hope it's working because you guys sound like you need to know the support you're getting from home is huge.

Keep going, you're doing something incredible which will help so many people.
Lots of love,
Widge
(Mutley's sis-in-law)

Mutley
Your a very small man with very small ears, but what you are about to achieve shows your will and determination to succeed is as strong as ever along with your very charitable and special heart.
G.

Morning Lads

'They think it's all over - it isn't now!!' But it will be very soon ....
You've all done a fantastic job and have raised a shed load of cash. Keep pedalling and everyone else keep donating. Wish we could be in Monte Carlo to celebrate with you - although I'd probably be in the pub and miss you coming in like I did in Lands End!!!
Lots of love to you all - Amanda (Mrs Muttley) xx

Hi Paul, Gavin, Moo and the rest of you crazy guys,
Sylvia and I are most proud of what you have all achieved so far, nearly there now then you can hang your boots up and auction your bicycles.

Well done to you Paul, we are especially proud of you.
We hope you have all raised an enormous amount of money for Cancer Research. I take my hat of to you.
Graham and Sylvia

oi boys , I just heard a rumour, you might wanna get your skates on cos I heard Lorraine Kelly has just got on her bike and she is hot on your heels !!!!
show us your growler !!
From Gav

Dan & Co......
After reading yesterdays update my heart really went out to you all...
You have taken on such a tough challenge but I am 100% positive that you are all determined enough, especially knowing that its for such a good cause, that you can and will finish (one way or another !!!).
Keep up the team strength along with plenty of those yucky drinks....
Also, Dan, have the hairs started to grow back yet ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Best wishes
Michelle (Ginger Gooney) !!

Hello Chaps,
Looking on Google Earth today, and it would seem there are a couple small hills ahead.
Keep up the good work ! It hurts to say it, but I'm actually very proud of you Rich..........

Drew (Rich's Bro
P.S. Ricardo, got any room on yer bike for some duty free's ?!

Dan,
Well done to all you guys, I can only imagine what it must take to get going each morning knowing what's ahead. Glad to hear Jim's recovered and no more bad spills for the team. Almost done now mate, well once you finish the easy bit !

I thought I would up the sponsorship by donating your bonus for the year, I knew you wouldn't mind, you will see the £5 on the sheet in the office,
don't worry I claimed the tax for you.
Tom

Keep up the fantastic work fellas.

Keep your chin up Jim, but not too high so the sun reflects off your
teeth!!

Just imagine you've got Chris behind you, telling you how fantastic Peter Crouch is.....!! Infact, why don't you imagine you have legs like Crouchy whilst peddling across the Alps..... you'll finish it a day early that way.....
Well done for all you've done so far
Damo

Keep peddling Dan, I know it's hurting all your nooks & crannies but just think in 3 days it will all be over and what a great achievement!  Will be thinking of you & the lads as you make it over The Alps. Take Care & Good Luck for the hardest part of the journey yet!
Love Carly xXx

Good morning gentlemen. Just read your diary for yesterday and I’m exhausted already!! Good luck for the rest of your trip….all the delights of Monte Carlo beckon, and I can hear the champagne bubbles from here. You’re doing a fantastic job, and I’m chuffed that Brook Graham has been able to help you along your way with a bit of sponsorship. I look forward to hearing about your celebrations in due course. Keep pedalling!!! All the best, Lesley x

Hi you brave cyclists - especially Muttley (it was brilliant to hear from you today when I was at Tony and Betty's).  The diary is so entertaining, we feel we are going through all the pain with you and the highs and lows and know that you are all going to make it and hope all the people who haven't donated will do it soon.  Especially thinking of Jimmy and Ricardo - you will get there - promise.

Keep up the fluids and the vaseline!

Diana (Tony's sister)
p.s.  can a recycled teenager have a photo sometime of the gang in their lycra!
xxxxxxx

Pedro,
you may have bandy legs and are going bald but I know that you can do this, go on all the lads you're doing great. Well done and good luck for the rest of the trip.
Dave Mehtab

Lacky and the lads. Don't get despondent. Everyone who has looked at this website is so proud and in awe of all that you are achieving and will achieve. Keep up all of the hard work and think of how much you can enjoy the delights of Monte Carlo when you arrive...

Lots of love, Laura and Jonathan XXX

Just read today's diary and felt for the team. We can only imagine how hard it must be after the massive effort you have already put in. Just remember that however much it hurts each morning, each evening and all the bits in between, the people that you are doing it for live with that and more every day.

Well done boys and remember being in a team means helping your mate through even when you don't think you can do it yourself!

Lorna & Phil

P.S. Liquid nurofen and night nurse mixed together have marvellous pain relieving benefits!

Hello Dan
Hope you had a good day going over the mountains- avoiding the oil on the road?!
Good luck, we're really proud of you and the effort you are putting into the cause.
Love you lots
Mum and Dad

KEEP GOING LADS - YOU ARE OVER HALF WAY.
WE,RE SO VERY PROUD OF YOU ALL.
LOVE LAURA AND STEVE XXXX

Message to PJ (Mutley)
Your nieces are so proud - obviously they're not showing it - KB's still pouting and Fleurie would only be interested if her hero Louis (AKA: Vidal Sassoon.... you'll see!) Jennings was involved!!! But proud, nevertheless.

Having recently found out that a friend's two and a half year old son is fighting cancer, makes it particularly poignant that you're away at this time, doing what you're doing.  I never thought you'd make your sis-in-law so proud.
Your girls in Wateringbury love you.

Hope next few days are kind to you and the rest of the guys.

Hi All,
Well what can I say, when Paul said he was doing this I had my doubts indeed, but having seen his commitment and dedication
prior to the event I'm totally impressed! with Paul and all the team in getting involved to such a plausible charity. Having done a
350 Km ride my self out in Europe I can sympathise a little with what there going through, if you haven't all ready Gel padded
seats, where then anyway, the way forward they helped save my behind ha ha ha ha.

Reading your diary notes daily is an inspiration to us all for which I look forward to the rest of the days to come.

May the hills going up be as easy as going down and the straights as long for the views to be so vastly stunning and time to be
nothing but a happy memory!

All the best team.
Adam and Jo.

Hi Diddle & the lads,
I'm keeping a daily check on you all, unbelievable how much you have covered, I applaud you all, hope the wounds are not causing too much discomfort guys.

The next 'stages' look challenging, Keep at it, look forward to your next report. All the best for now.
Marshy.

Hiya Gents,
Just been sent the link to your website having been told that Jimmy was doing this.
Absolutely awesome achievement, and I hope the saddle soreness is somewhat better today.

Surely though using bikes is cheating, shouldn't you be running?
Best Wishes
Terry W

So pleased to hear that my husband's (ie Muttley) leg is recovering ....
However his car is slightly more seriously injured!!! Whoops-a-daisy

Keep going lads we are so proud of you all especially you Paul we are very
very proud of you

love Mum Dad xxxxxxx

Dear Jimmy et al (who's Al???),
Been reading about your progress - keep going!!!!  Article and photo in Telegraph today is headed "Monte Carlo or Bunked"
alluding to the overbooking of French hotel rooms!  Quite a coup to make the Brentwood & Billericay Gazette in the same week as the Daily Telegraph.  We'll keep the cuttings for you.  Hope the grazes are healing.  Your feat is so much more impressive than the
England football team and so much more valuable.
Lots of love, Jacey and Peter xxx

I’ve been reading the diary every day and you should be so proud of yourselves. The longest leg is behind you now. Keep going guys, you’re doing a fantastic job for a cause very close to all of our hearts.
Kim

Paul
Keeping up with you Daily on the Riding Diary, the pain you are all going through is evident, and your strength and will is truly motivating. Keep it up!

Good luck to you all.  People touch our hearts in many ways throughout out lives.  Tony, Betty and their family are an inspiration to us all in the way they are facing this difficult of all times and without people like yourselves who dedicate their time and energy to raise funds for such a worthy cause the world would be a sadder place.

Robert & Rosemary

Here's wishing the team all the luck in the world.
Lovely to see you the other day Betty, what a smashing gal you are. Sending Tony and you all our love.
We'll be there every step, (wheel rotation) of the way with ya.

Well done to all involved in the ride and we hope you get spoilt rotten after for raising so much money for such a good cause, take care xxxx

Corina & Michael

Hi Guys, it was great to see you set off this morning. Just wanted to say a huge thank you and wish you good luck!!!

From all the team in Community Fundraising at Cancer Research UK. I'll be following your progress online.  Best wishes Charlotte.

Dan
Just wanted to say that we wish you all the best of luck. I've got no doubt at all that you'll do it with flying colours.

Be thinking of you every step of the way- good luck everyone!

Love you lots

Char a.k.a The Little Chavette x x x x x x x x x

To Mr.Jennings and team, I thought your last ride was amazing but this is  very brave and admirable. Few years ago I lost my mother and last week a dear friend to this dreadful disease.....I applaud you all for you your brave and kind effort. All the very best for the journey. And I hope Amanda has managed to get lots of money for this very worthy cause so you folk at Kings Hill get giving!!
Selva x

Hi Paul and all the rest of you brilliant cyclists.  The best of luck, we shall be following your progress and will be at Charing to see you off.  Tony (my brave and best brother in the world) will be there and we all be cheering you on.

Lots of love and lots of vaseline!

Diana xxxxxxx

I am hugely impressed (you must be mad!) and appreciate that you have dedicated your ride to me Paul. I am going to follow you all the way (from my bed, watching the football, drinking beer...). As for Hovis, I know it was always you that was the bad influence on my daughter, not the other way round! Paul, you are a brave and foolish man ( for marrying Amanda or riding 984
miles in 9 days!)

Tony aka Mr White Shoes
I can't put into words how much I appreciate you all undertaking this ride and the money that will be raised for Cancer Research. I am sure this is what has given Tony a new lease of life these past few weeks, so unexpectedly. Tony is a worthy recipient of this privilege
• He is a wonderful man, husband, father and not forgetting, grandfather.
• He has made this difficult journey easier for me by being positive and he always puts me before himself.

Paul, Amanda, Sam, Joel and Louis - Having you all as part of our family has enhanced it. Our Saturday afternoon was hilarious, which is obvious from the photos we took. You all were a ray of sunshine, we love you all. The Goodie Box is always full, until you've gone! Tony- We have been married for 42 years this year and you have been a wonderful husband. You have always supported me through the ups and downs of life. You are a caring, unselfish and special man and it is a pleasure to take care of you. You are and always will be, my life. I love you. Betty

I just want to wish all the Team the very best of luck for this thoroughly admirable challenge you've all decided to undertake - makes you realise how foolish alcohol fuelled decisions can be eh?! Obviously I'm just a tad bias to my Small Eared Husband - Muttley - but am so proud of every single one of you.

Reading all the dedications below, particularly the one from my dearest bestest friend, Nicola Colyer, (which made me sob - a mascara running down the cheeks moment!) should make us all realise how important family and friends are. The boys and I will be supporting you all the way and love you very much.

Amanda (Aka Mrs Muttley) xxx

Danny C - Good luck to you and the rest of the riders, hope you raise loads of cash and don’t get too saddle sore!
Lots of love, The Wareings. Xxxx

Good Luck to you Daniel and also to the rest of the team!

We will all be rooting for you from the comfort of our sofa's. We don't envy you at all perched on those painful saddles for so long

Key words - Lubrication and padding!!!

All joking aside, we are sure you'll raise bundles of cash for a very worthy cause. Having lost friends and relatives to cancer, we know how devastating this disease can be.

Lots of love

Jamie / Rodders / Sh*t Leg, Dirtford Pikie Emma and baby Amy.

xxxxxxx

Speaking on behalf of the whole Colyer clan, Paul and the boys good luck to you! You have given Dad a target to aim for that at times I certainly thought he wouldn't see. If you can show only a fraction of the courage that Dad has since October 05 you will zoom up those hills. We are looking forward to meeting you all at Charing, Dad will be there, a miracle in itself.

Amanda & Paul - your support has been amazing, both to Jack and I, Mum and Dad. Amanda, your outrageous humour has brightened the gloomiest days. Paul, your quiet strength will carry you through. You aren't just friends, you are family.

Dad - You are an inspiration to everyone who meets you, to me you are my knight in shining armour. I love you more than words can say, keep proving them wrong! xxxxxxxx

THANK YOU SO MUCH on behalf of the many millions of people who have been affected in someway by this dreadful disease. I lost both my parents to cancer last year and other close family members within the last ten years. Treatment has progressed tremendously; my Mum had an extra ten years from diagnosis, and lived long enough to see our wedding and the birth and early years of her first grandchild.

We shall be following the progress of ‘Team Monte Carlo or Bust’ – wishing you all the best of luck.

Hope you raise oodles of cash for Cancer Research UK. Pass the pot around at the Family Xmas Party!

Love D, G & M
PS. Don’t forget to pack LOADS of Vaseline!

Hi guys, just read your website having being directed there by the lovely, sparkly Amanda.

What an adventure, I wish I could be on the finish line at Monte Carlo.

Whatever you do and no matter how much it hurts, enjoy it. Dead proud of you all but especially biased towards Mr Jennings! Good luck,
Cess Wigley

Hi Guys,
Just been sent your website and ride plan, [your Plan Committee look just like many we have here in Oz!]

Very impressed with the project and will send over a few quid to C R UK.

Am coming over your way in early July to do a ride myself with a bunch of guys from Manchester, fondly known as the "Fat Boys" Unlike you lot, we are doing a leisurely ride around the castles of Transylvania for 8 days, [I think the longest day will be 45 miles!]

Will follow your progress later in June and only have great admiration for your efforts, esp the journey over the hilly bits!
Keep safe and have a great ride
Best wishes
Dan Cudmore

Well another year another ride.  Well done you! Amazing idea.  As you know Martin would not be here without the cancer research having been done.

13% chance of survival on diagnosis, and now nearly 6 years on discharged from the hospital and all clear.  Thank goodness for Cancer Research!

Mutt did arrive to us in Seaford on his bike at the weekend. Maidstone to Seaford he said via most of Kent (he said there were no road signs to Brighton yeah right!) Looked good when he arrived. Not convinced Amanda and the boys did not drop him off at the round about down the road…….

Keep up the training and have a ball.
Jane & Martin .x

Having lost several aunts and uncles to various forms of cancer - I applaud your efforts and think the task you are undertaking is amazing!!

Best of Luck to all of you
Gerry and Family x

Good luck boys,

We've got loads and loads of adbiration for you all!!
We envy you,
